The Goodwin-Niering Center for the Environment provides support for sustainability related research. Students in the center come from all different disciplines with a focus on how to connect their major to the environment. Each student carries out a senior integrative project or honors thesis. Students receive support for a summer internship related to their research prior to their senior year. They also receive advising and coaching on presentation skills and have opportunities to present their research.

Beginning in 2018 the College is offering the Richard H. Goodwin Environmental Research Fellowship to support an honors thesis related to the environment or sustainability in any discipline. This is a prestigious research award that provides a stipend plus support for supplies, travel and publication costs.
