STARS v2.1

Saint Michael's College
OP-16: Student Commute Modal Split

Status Score Responsible Party

"---" indicates that no data was submitted for this field

Total percentage of students (graduate and undergraduate) that use more sustainable commuting options as their primary means of transportation (0-100):
96.22

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:

The college is a four year residential campus in which all undergraduates are required (though there are exceptions granted) to reside on campus. The percentage of students using sustainable commuting options was obtained under the assumption that students residing on campus do not need to drive from their residence to classes. The percentage was determined by diving the number of undergraduate students living on campus by the total number of undergraduate students for the 2016/2017 Academic Year.

We do have 75 commuter students and are assuming they are traveling to campus in a single occupancy vehicle (though probably not the case as some do bike/walk and take the local bus - we just can't accurately pin down this number but hope to in the future).

The percentage of students that use each of the following modes as their primary means of transportation to get to and from campus::
Percentage (0-100)
Commute with only the driver in the vehicle (excluding motorcycles and scooters) ---
Walk, bicycle, or use other non-motorized means ---
Vanpool or carpool ---
Take a campus shuttle or public transportation ---
Use a motorcycle, scooter or moped ---
