People can make a positive difference in this world. This is the underlying principle that guides the Office of Sustainability at Saint Michael’s College. At Saint Michael’s College, sustainability encompasses more than just the typical “green” operational initiatives. Its reach extends across all disciplines and areas of the College and includes everything from what we consume to the rich and diverse culture in which we live. The Office is committed to strengthening our campus’s obligation to a socially and ecologically responsible world by connecting students, staff and faculty with opportunities to create a sustainable future. In utilizing the campus as a living laboratory for sustainability, the Office seeks to provide students with the necessary knowledge, values, skills and confidence for being change makers in the 21st century.
The Director of Sustainability's position was created with the intention to help bridge the various sustainability initiatives/programs occurring across the institution. The Director facilitates the development of strategies for incorporating environmental sustainability into the academic, residential and operational activities of Saint Michael's College and works to align activities across all sectors.
