A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:

CONSTRUCTION & DEMOLITION WASTE POLICY
All construction and renovation projects are required to comply with Seneca’s C&D policy, in which parties are to fill out the appropriate MOE forms that record the waste and recycling generated on site and picked up from their associated waste haulers. The forms are provided to the SoS for data collection, annual waste audits and reporting.

CONSTRUCTION RFP CRITERIA
It dictates that contractors are responsible for the removal and diversion of construction and demolition (C&D) materials from landfill.

Recent construction projects across all Seneca campuses are designed to meet LEED Gold green building standards, and as such aim to achieve high levels of C&D waste diversion; Magna Hall at King Campus and the CITE Building at Newnham Campus both achieved LEED Gold certification.
