Rainwater from the roof of the Albert Sherman Center is captured and reused by the campus power plant. It is estimated that 1,500,000 gallons rain water was collected annually and used as cooling tower make up water.

NOTE: rainwater collection calculations were competed by Bard, Rao, and Athanas consulting Engineers, LLC as part of the Albert Sherman Center's LEED certification process

UMMS built a retention pond for its largest open surface parking lot (Pine Tree Lot).

Stormwater ceptors are used in the parking garages to collect the runoff and treat it before it is drained. UMMS also has a Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCCP).
