Does the institution have a program to reduce residence hall move-in waste?:
Yes

A brief description of the program:

The majority of our students move into their residence hall rooms over one weeked in August, from Friday to Sunday. During this weekend, University Housing, University Facilities, and Sonoco Recycling work together to collect the large amount of cardboard created by move-in. We place blue cardboard dumpsters and recycing banners at each residence hall, include instructions for recycling in the Move In Guide, and have staff helping break down boxes and instruct people on recycling. We also put clear stream recycling containers at each reisdence hall entrance to collect bottles and cans. Last year, we also collected styrofoam for a recycled art contest. In 2010 we collected 9 tons of cardboard over 3 days.
