In 2022, Michigan Tech launched a program to recycle plastic film across campus. In partnership with local grocer Tadych’s Marketplace, the film will be sent to Trex to live a second life as composite decking through their NexTrex program.
The Office of Sustainability and Resilience has deployed and maintained 30 receptacles and built an outreach campaign. Over 500 lbs of film has been recycled in the first 3 months of the program.
