Our current campus-wide structured assessment focuses on recruitment, retention, and financial support of underrepresented populations. We have ceased with campus wide "climate" surveys as our VP of DEIS takes a philosophical approach to management and assessment driven at the unit level via individualized metrics and timelines, and does not believe that institution-wide assessment is necessary or useful at this point. As of May 2023, approximately 70% of all campus units have completed or are in the final stages of completing their assessments and plans. A link to the unit-level plans is here: https://www.mtu.edu/diversity/strategic-plan/unit-plans/ There is a toolkit available for all departments and the VP-DEIS office is highly active in helping the planning process.
