A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):

A faculty person was selected based on previous experience with and passion for sustainability issues. This faculty person trains other faculty to then help permeate through departments methods to green curriculum.


A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):

Faculty are trained by the Coordinator for Sustainability Teaching and Learning, first how to green their own curriculum and then how to provide leadership for fellow colleagues in individual departments to green more curriculum.


A brief description of the staff and/or other financial support the institution provides to the program (1st program):

The Coordinator for Sustainability Teaching and Learning is a 3-hour release time position for 1 faculty member a year. Faculty who participate in the full training are compensated by Professional Growth Units (PGUs) which equate to higher pay grades.

Educators come from the Green Team and provide personal expertise.

Educators receive an outline of expectations for the workshop including time and equipment needs. Educators come with their own personal, professional expertise to share and lead workshops with other staff and faculty at the event.

The college supports Staff Development Day with materials and food. No financial compensation is provided to educators or participants, however, faculty can achieve PGUs for participating in workshops.
