Which of the following best describes the institution’s approach to rainwater management?:
No written policies, plans or guidelines, but green infrastructure and LID practices are used

A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:

The Rinker Environmental Learning Center is a Gold level LEED structure that captures the rainwater from its roof. The Stetson campus follows and adheres to all codes established by St. Johns River Management District, State Building Codes, County Building Codes and the City of DeLand Building Codes. The University follows all codes required for construction and operations. As areas of the campus are improved all areas are brought up to existing codes for storm water management.

At the Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center, a rain garden, planted stormwater pond, and floating vegetative mats are present as EPA-funded green infrastructure demonstration projects. Additionally, the driveway surrounding the stormwater pond is permeable.

A brief description of the institution’s rainwater management policy, plan, and/or guidelines that supports the responses above:

As a matter of practice, though unwritten policy, LID practices are implemented for all new construction, renovation, development projects. Our goal is to keep stormwater on campus rather than sending it to the city/county retention areas.
