Yes

A brief description of how multiple stakeholder groups were involved in developing the plan:

UF's Vision for a Sustainable UF is the result of a six-month collaborative visioning process with over 100 members of UF and the broader community. This vision report includes an evaluation of 15 different indicators, each with a guiding principle, assessment of how we are doing, recent accomplishments, and goals moving forward.

Fourteen sessions were held, one for each indicator, in which participants were guided through a high level overview of the case for sustainability, identified the most and least sustainable aspects of campus, crafted vision statements for the vision topic, and identified actions UF would need to take to realize some of the visions. These groups later met to develop strategic implementation plans for the vision.

The indicators include: teaching and research; service outreach and extension; energy conservation and climate change; land and resource management; agriculture; built environment; waste reduction; procurement; investment; transportation; health & wellbeing; equity; cultural climate; stewardship; and institutional commitment.

A brief description of the plan’s measurable goals :

Depending on the indicator category and specific action, most are written to be measured as actions are completed or in process. Success of infrastructural improvements and behavioral campaigns can be assessed through surveys or resource use data. Activities and events can be assessed by the number of participants and the level of involvement.

UF is participating in STARS partially to assess our progress in these areas over time.

A brief description of how progress in meeting the plan’s goals is measured:

The actions for all plans lay a framework towards meeting UF’s sustainability objectives, but are non-binding. The implementation process is meant to be inclusive and adaptive, and the implementation plans “living” documents. For each action, stakeholders are identified and a lead department/unit is noted in bold. Actions will be assessed regularly by the stakeholders to determine appropriateness and/or progress toward the goals, and modified as needed to reflect the best path to a sustainable UF. The Office of Sustainability will review overall progress annually and lead efforts to identify new actions and develop implementation plans every three years.
