A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):

The UGA New Student Orientation is required for all students entering the University for the first time. Sustainability topics have been included in Orientation Fairs for years through various organizations with related interests. The Office of Sustainability has been promoting sustainability activities and opportunities at UGA at New Student Orientation since 2010.

Students and their families are exposed to the Dining Hall during Orientation as well as the Dining Services staff. During this time they are able to make a connection to the sustainable measures that are taken throughout dining halls across campus. With exposure to the bus system and through communication from the Orientation Leaders, community leaders, and staff about the benefits of our public transportation and ride-sharing options, students see this as a common mode of travel as a UGA student. The University Health Center along with the staff from the Ramsey Student Center and the Office of Emergency Preparedness give a breakout session on the topics of health and wellness.

All incoming graduate students receive literature on sustainability programs at UGA.
