A brief description of the sustainable operations and maintenance policy/program and/or O+M rating system(s) used:

SAFETY POLICY – INDOOR AIR QUALITY (IAQ): The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) is committed to promoting a cohesive, proactive approach to creating a safe working and learning environment, improving productivity, lowering business costs, instilling stewardship, and incorporating injury and illness prevention as a part of standard campus operating procedures. The University considers staff, faculty, researcher, student, visitor, volunteer, and community well-being one of its top priorities. UTD has adopted an enterprising approach to indoor air quality (IAQ) by incorporating best management practices into new construction planning, remodel/renovation projects, and the wide variety of activities regularly introduced by building occupants as part of our fluid University environment. The IAQ program at UTD is collaboratively managed by the UTD Safety team and Facilities Management group. All members of our UTD Community are encouraged to identify IAQ considerations as part of their daily activities. The Safety Policy on Indoor Air Quality ensures that the Safety and Facilities teams are involved in the assessment of any concerns, as well as coordination of initiatives to improve IAQ conditions including source management, engineering controls and administrative practices.

GREEN CLEANING POLICY: The University of Texas at Dallas is committed to sustainability in custodial practices and purchasing in order to maintain buildings to the highest standard. As part of this commitment, UT Dallas has implemented a comprehensive Green Cleaning Program. University requires the custodial staff and contractors to perform cleaning in compliance with University’s Green Cleaning Guideline. The Green Cleaning Guideline is a comprehensive program that reflects the criteria in USGBC’s LEED guidelines for Green Cleaning and fulfills requirements set by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). The Contractor shall submit quarterly cleaning supplies, equipment and material reports indicating compliance with University green cleaning protocol.
