The 2012 STARS course inventory was a starting place, and the courses were verified to still exist. If inclusion of sustainability was not evident in publicly available course descriptions or websites, the course was either verified with a syllabus or excluded. Faculty also had the opportunity to self-identify their courses as either sustainability focused or inclusive with descriptions. If faculty identified the course, it was included.
