Has the institution assessed attitudes about diversity and equity on campus in a way that meets the criteria for this credit?:
Yes

A brief description of the assessment(s):

Williams routinely surveys students on issues of campus climate. Themes of interest include student/faculty interaction, academic and social engagement, and having a supportive campus environment. Data from these surveys is analyzed by demographic groups of interest, including race, sex, and sexual orientation (when available) in order to find and understand group differences in these important areas. Interventions, if appropriate, can then be devised.

Year the assessment was last administered:
2,011

A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:

Because diversity is measured across so many different areas and constituents, there is no one way in which assessments are used to shape policy, programs and initiatives. If the need for intervention is determined through assessments, then the Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Diversity works within stakeholder groups to develop further strategies and implement programs appropriate to the situation.
