Does the institution have an ongoing program that offers incentives for academic staff in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses? :
A brief description of the incentive program(s):
Barnard Sustainability and the Center for Engaged Pedagogy (CEP) have built a partnership to offer workshops to faculty and staff. In 2021, we hosted "Sustaining Curricula." These virtual sessions were designed not only to support faculty in their efforts to integrate environment, sustainability and climate change into curricula, but also to think about interdisciplinary ways to structure collaboration across departments, e.g. funded, team-taught courses.
Each session began with a panel and Q&A facilitated by students and end with a workshop component. The panel component of each session was open to faculty and students, and featured the speakers listed below. In the workshop component of each session, faculty divided into small groups in order to workshop their syllabi. Please find the details for each virtual session below.

Environmental Justice, Friday, March 26th, 11:00am - 12:30pm, with speakers Elizabeth Cook, Manu Karuka, and Angela Simms
Design Decarbonization, Tuesday, March 30th, 2:00pm-3:30pm, with speakers Kadambari Baxi, Martin Stute, and Sandra Goldmark
In 2022, we offered a retreat and workshop series. Both events were designed to support Barnard instructors who want to develop interdisciplinary, co-taught first-year seminars that engage with climate, sustainability, environmental justice, and related subjects. This initiative is the product of a long-running partnership between the CEP, the Office of Sustainability & Climate Action, and the FYS program.
The retreat was a brainstorming and community building event. The workshops happened biweekly over the course of October and November. These sessions provide participants with time and support as they develop team-taught courses on climate and sustainability for the FYS program. Participants who complete the workshop received $500.

Time, guidance, and $500 stipend for completion.
