Has the institution conducted a GHG emissions inventory within the previous three years that includes all Scope 1 and 2 emissions? :
Yes

A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:

This inventory was conducted from 2021-2022 and is a full scope 1 - 3 inventory of the college for FY2019. FY 2019 was chosen because it was the closest available year of "normal" pre-pandemic operations. An inventory of scopes 1 and 2 when buildings were not at capacity, and scope 3 using a year of significantly reduced spending for analysis would not give an accurate picture.

Energy Strategies was hired to conduct an inventory that follows GHG protocol for all scopes. They created a scope 3 calculator based on US EPA-EEIO 2016 Detail Commodity updated for 2019 dollars. They reviewed all relevant documentation provided by the college such as energy consumption, capital expense, and purchasing data for the year to produce this inventory. Scope three included all 15 upstream and downstream emissions categories.

Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
No

A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:
---

Documentation to support the GHG inventory verification process:
---

Gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
Weight in MTCO2e
Stationary combustion 4,967.07 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Other sources (mobile combustion, process emissions, fugitive emissions) 152.93 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
5,120 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions, performance year (market-based):
Weight in MTCO2e
Imported electricity 3,637 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Imported thermal energy 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total gross Scope 2 GHG emissions, performance year:
3,637 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Gross GHG emissions from biogenic sources, performance year:
0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Does the GHG emissions inventory include Scope 3 emissions from the following sources?:
Yes or No Weight in MTCO2e
Business travel Yes 2,496 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Commuting Yes 4,492 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Purchased goods and services Yes 8,198 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Capital goods Yes 3,329 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Fuel- and energy-related activities not included in Scope 1 or Scope 2 Yes 5,229 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Waste generated in operations Yes 491 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Other sources Yes 2,312 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total Scope 3 GHG emissions, performance year:
26,547 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:

Energy Strategies used the Scope 3 calculation guidance provided by WRI to complete a full inventory of all 15 upstream and downstream emissions categories. Most categories used a spend based method however a hybrid or average data approach was used for several categories.

Has the institution completed an inventory within the previous three years to quantify its air pollutant emissions?:
No

Annual weight of emissions for::
Weight of Emissions
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) ---
Sulfur oxides (SOx) ---
Carbon monoxide (CO) ---
Particulate matter (PM) ---
Ozone (O3) ---
Lead (Pb) ---
Hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) ---
Ozone-depleting compounds (ODCs) ---
Other standard categories of air emissions identified in permits and/or regulations ---

Do the air pollutant emissions figures provided include the following sources?:
Yes or No
Major stationary sources No

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

2019 is the only year for which we have scope 3 data and since it was collected in 2022, it is the most recent data completed within the 3 year prior to submission timeframe. It was selected because we wanted to conduct an accurate inventory based upon when the college was in full operation, pre-pandemic. 2019 data, while older, is more representative of the college as we operate today, and therefore a better representation of our current emissions. It is more helpful in helping us identify areas where we should focus reduction efforts.
