A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:

The Celebration of the Scholarly and Creative Academic Achievements Booklet is produced annually and was used to create the inventory. This booklet represents a comprehensive look at research performed by Beloit College faculty as they self report their accomplishments each academic year.

Given that a number of the sustainability (and non-sustainability) research projects that are being conducted at Beloit College span more than a single year, the pages in the inventory reflect different years and the lower numbers seen in the inventory are for 1 year, not 2 years. Therefore, the higher numbers reported in the STARS reporting tool reflect two years of research, and not one. Simply look through the entire inventory for an accurate and matching count of the number of faculty conducting sustainability research, year to year.
For next year, I will be sure to list a total on the front page of the inventory to avoid this confusion.
