Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee Overview:

Approval from the Institutional Animal Use and Care Committee (IACUC) is required before any research involving animals is allowed at BHSU. To request IACUC approval:

Complete the online Responsible Conduct of Research course and the Animal Care and Use course. Certificates are valid for three years, so if you have certificates of completion from other RCR or Animal Care and Use courses taken within the past three years you do not need to repeat the course--please attach those certificates to your protocol.
Complete the full protocol, short protocol (for invertebrates).
Submit your completed protocol to the Sponsored Programs office, Woodburn 203, Unit 9504.
Await review and formal written approval before beginning research.

Policy for Responding to Allegations of Scientific Misconduct

K. Research Integrity Officer means the institutional official responsible for
assessing allegations of scientific misconduct and determining when such allegations
warrant inquiries and for overseeing inquiries and investigations. At BHSU, this
individual is the Chair of the Institutional Animal Care and Human Subjects Committee.

A. Research Integrity Officer
The BHSU President will appoint the Chair of the Institutional Animal Care and Human
Subjects Committee to serve as the Research Integrity Officer who will have primary
responsibility for implementation of the procedures set forth in this document. The Research Integrity Officer will be an institutional official who is well qualified to handle the procedural requirements involved and is sensitive to the varied demands made on those who conduct research, those who are accused of misconduct, and those who report apparent misconduct in good faith.
