A brief description of the sustainability trainings and professional development opportunities available to staff :

DePaul University offers the Values-Centered Leadership Certificate program. The Values-Centered Leadership Certificate is a free 10-week, non-credit course in leadership development. Participating from within at staff members own context, he or she will experience a leadership development course focused on values within a supportive learning community. All participants who successfully engage in the course will receive a certificate of completion from DePaul University.

In the third week, the certificate program focuses on issues of sustainability. Week Three is entitled: LEARN: Exploring Contemporary Values-Based Models. Week three asks the questions:
What vision do emerging approaches to value-centered leadership give us of how to do good... with both effectiveness and excellence? What practical approaches do they offer for balancing the need for results, appropriate processes, and respect for the people involved?

The program explores an array of leadership models and practices including, transformational leadership, servant leadership and spiritual leadership. Transformational Leadership focuses on helping people grow as leaders to benefit their organization. Servant Leadership -pioneered by Robert Greenleaf in the corporate world- is the practical application of putting service to others and to the organization first on the leader's agenda. Spiritual Leadership encompasses the understanding that we have been given a planetary inheritance by the Source and Spirit of Life, asking how we can best act from the power of that Spirit to support Life and all of Earth's people through our leadership.
