A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:

FSU is a member of the local community's "Combined Air Team" (CombAT), which is a joint effort between Cumberland County and all of it's municipalities, Fort Bragg, higher education institutions (including FSU), public schools and other interested stakeholders to improve local air quality and environmental health. The CombAT's focus is on short to mid-term projects that will improve the area's environmental metrics and promote economic development and social equity.

FSU is also one of 5 founding members of the Sustainable Community Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that includes FSU, the City of Fayetteville, the City-owned electric, water/sewer utility (Public Works Commission), Fort Bragg, the Fayetteville/Cumberland Chamber of Commerce and Sustainable Sandhills, a regional sustainability nonprofit organization based in Fayetteville.
