Does the institution have an ongoing program to encourage students in multiple disciplines or academic programs to conduct sustainability research?:
Yes

A brief description of the student sustainability research program:

Sustainability-related research over the past three years has been conducted through internally funded programs (including the Students Partnering with Faculty grants), externally funded programs (including the NJDEP composting grant and the National Science Foundation hydroponic/aquaponic grant) and for student credits. Students participating in this research come from varying majors, but typically are minoring in Sustainability.

Independent Research in Sustainability Science and Environmental Science courses are offered at the sophomore, junior, and senior levels for credit varying from one to four. Many students who are majoring and minoring in sustainability-related topics conduct research through this program and share their research at the Kean University Research Days. This includes students in architecture, business, the sciences, and design.

In addition, the Independent Practicum for Sustainability is the culminating capstone experience for all B.S. Students in the Department of Environmental and Sustainability Sciences and students work collaboratively on teams for research and service projects.
