A brief description of the institution’s efforts to support alternative fuel and power technology in its motorized fleet:

In the summer of 2022 Kean University installed (6) electric vehicle charging stations which are open to university students and staff during the daytime, and open to the public after 5:00 PM.

Kean University has also received permit approval to build a Transportation Depot to house (5) new electric buses that will be used for our campus transportation service routes. These vehicles are on order and should be arriving by November 2023. This will offset (4) Trolley vehicles and (2) large commercial buses that are currently in use. The depot will consist of parking area and the electrical infrastructure to support the charging of electric buses.

Additionally, gasoline trucks have been phased out and are being replaced by smaller electric utility vehicles (Utility golf carts with truck boxes for trades personnel). In 2021-2022 3 vehicle were purchased, and 4 additional are on order.
