Polytechnique owns a very small amount of vegetalised land (the remaining of the campus in which Polytechnique is located being managed by Université de Montréal). The footprint of buildings represent 2.08 hectares. The parking, roads and sidewalks represent 2.36 hectares.

Polytechnique does not use any herbicides or pesticides on its managed lands. The lawn is just mowned in order to respect the fact that Polytechnique is on the Mount Royal, which is a protected site.
