A brief description of how and when the cultural assessment(s) were developed and/or adopted:
The literacy assessment was developed by faculty and staff from the Sustainability Committee. The assessment includes questions addressing sustainability literacy, as well as culture and engagement, however, 10 questions focus specifically on behaviours and values. The assessment was ran as a pilot in several classes during 2018 and 2019. In September 2021 the assessment was distributed to all students. In September 2022, the assessment was delivered to all students and employees.

The Sustainability Literacy Assessment was administered to all students via SurveyMonkey. The assessment was delivered to students via email from our Institutional Research Department. It was promoted by the Sustainability Department on social media.
A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment:
In 2022 we received 459 responses.
91% of respondents says they were willing to make individual habit changes to reduce their carbon footprint.
95% of respondents think that climate change is a global emergency.
91% of respondents stated that it was either very important or somewhat important that Selkirk College takes significant actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address climate change.
