Although a comprehensive organic sustainable landscape management plan has not been established at Selkirk College, the Grounds crew uses a variety of ecological practices to maintain the grounds.

When installing new planted areas, and strong emphasis is put on native species.
No pesticides or herbicides are used on grounds.

Very little irrigation takes place on the grounds; lawns are over sown with drought tolerant grass seed and may areas of grass are left un-watered.
Renovations to the main parking lot at Castlegar campus during 2017 included only native and drought tolerant species.
The main parking lot at Castlegar campus includes bioswales to address stormwater runoff.

Landscaping on Selkirk's Tenth Street campus has been done with all native species, so no irrigation or mowing is required. Areas of grass have been minimized to reduce on energy needed for upkeep.
