A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with sustainable building operation and maintenance guidelines and policies:

The Facilities Management and Planning Department performs a cross functional review of the construction documents for all projects, in an effort to to standardize energy savings strategies across campus and ensure each new or upgraded building is both operationally efficient and reliable. All standards included in the University guidelines and policies are carefully reviewed in relation to the design of new or remodeled facilities.

We also leverage the Energy Design Assist program offered by our local Utility to model potential energy conservation initiatives for both new buildings and major additions. The program was developed to provide assistance towards LEED certification.

Our Energy Conservation Program includes a building survey component which includes the analysis of the buildings operation, and develop of strategies to improve the performance of the mechanical and electrical systems and reduce our utility consumption and MeTCO2/sq.ft.
