A brief summary of additional ways the institution collaborates with other campuses to advance sustainability :

On February 17-18, 2011, the University of Denver hosted the Rocky Mountain Sustainability Summit, which until this year had been held solely at the University of Colorado-Boulder campus. The event drew over 250 attendees and speakers from as far away as California and Massachusetts, representing 59 schools, government agencies and businesses. Approximately 25 staff and faculty volunteers coordinated the event, and 75 student volunteers provided support during the two-day conference. DU has always participated in this biennial Summit by sending faculty, students, and staff as presenters and participants.

On November 4, 2010, the University of Denver’s Office of the Chancellor and Sustainability Council co-hosted a Statewide Sustainability Roundtable, along with the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado, the Governor’s Energy Office, Recharge Colorado.com, and Connected Organizations for a Responsible Economy (CORE). Among the goals of the roundtable meeting were to foster a statewide sustainability network by laying the foundation for making contacts and building relationships across the nonprofit, business, government and education sectors and to aid in reaching consensus on next steps to implementing local and statewide sustainability goals. Over 200 sustainability directors and leaders from business, nonprofit, government, educational and religious sectors met for a day-long meeting at the University of Denver.

The University of Denver co-hosted the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s (AASHE) 2010 national conference in Denver. Several DU staff, faculty, and students served on the planning committee for the event. In addition to approximately 20 faculty and staff who participated in the meeting, the Sustainability Council, in partnership with the Provost’s Office, sponsored 10 full student scholarships and 75 scholarships for the Student Summit. DU also hosted four tours, each emphasizing different sustainability features on campus (grounds, architecture, curriculum/research, dining).
