At UW-Eau Claire, the role of our division of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is to create an umbrella of support and service departments designed to ensure the greatest possible academic and campus success for all. With a focus on creating and maintaining an accessible, inclusive, and anti-racist campus climate, this division seeks to dismantle all types of barriers, fostering growth and achievement for every Blugold student. The EDI center provides comprehensive training that aims to prepare a culturally competent workforce and a student body prepared to thrive in an increasingly global society. Together, we hope to create a strong community of people eager to listen, talk, and learn.

A brief description of the institution’s cultural competence, anti-oppression, anti-racism, and/or social inclusion trainings and activities:

All students must complete an oline EDI training program before registering for classes. All university staff must complete an online EDI training within 2 months of their first day of employment. All staff complete a follow up training in their third year and every subsequent three years. Training completion is required to be considered for salary increases. The campus also offers an additional extensive professional development focusing on cultural competence, anti-oppression, anti-racism, and/or social inclusion that culminate a in certificate. 281 faculty and staff have completed the three tiered certificate program of at least 10 trainings and developed and implemented a project utilizing knowledge gained from their projects.
