A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:
UWEC has one main campus location in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. There are also four buildings throughout the City of Eau Claire that UWEC leases space in/has operational control over, which are included in the emissions data. Additionally, UWEC operates UWEC-Barron County, a two year degree providing satellite campus. Lastly, UWEC has a small number of faculty, staff, and students working at the Marshfield nursing clinic. also included are various parcels of land and small research stations owned by the University.
The UW-Eau Claire Foundation also owns land and manages investments for UW-Eau Claire. This is included in the scope of the STARS report. While the foundation is legally separate from UWEC, their mission is in direct support of UWEC and they provide financial support such as scholarships, awards, and infrastructure investments.

The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:
UWEC has a small number of faculty, staff, and students working at the Marshfield nursing clinic. This is excluded from the STARS report (except for FTE counts), because UW-Stevens Point accounts for carbon emissions in that building in their own reporting.
The Universities of Wisconsin trust fund was not included in this STARS analysis on the recommendation of STARS staff because UWEC has no operational control over it and receives extremely small amounts of funding from it.
