A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:

1. Wellesley College participates annual in "A Day to Make a Difference". This campus-wide event provides Wellesley College students, alumnae, faculty, employees and families with the chance to participate in service projects in their communities. Several of these projects focus on restoring landscape and gaining hands-on experience with farming practices. Through participation in these projects, this program raises student awareness about environmental problems and their social implications and generates enthusiasm for working closely with one's community.

For this event, the Center for Work & Service partners with organizations such as: COASTSWEEP, Community Harvest Project, Cradles to Crayons, Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, Greater Boston Food Bank, Home for Little Wanderers. Stone Zoo, Walker School, Wish Project & On-Campus Project at Houghton Center

2. The Wellesley College Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is an organization that helps to build houses in the greater Boston area for low-income families. The organization works very closely with the Greater Boston Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Wellesley College Habitat for Humanity also organizes alternative break trips where participating students travel to other areas to aide in building projects.
