A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:

We used the total number of tenure-track and tenured faculty as our total number of researchers. This number was determined because every tenure-track faculty members receive a course release every semester to conduct research.

For the faculty/staff that conducted sustainability research we surveyed them and determined whether or not their research fit STARS criteria.

Faculty/staff were only counted in this process. However, we did included Extended Learning (continuing education) and the Library (who have tenure-track faculty).
