EMU has participated in Recyclemania for the last 5 years. The recycling coordinator presents in new student orientation most years to educate students about the campus recycling and composting programs. Compost facility, recycling bins beside the majority of public waste bins on campus. The university has a very active surplus storage with lots of internal reuse and Craigslist sales of items that don't move. Move out re-use program with a neighboring thrift store also works very well.
