Gross Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions:
Performance year Baseline year
Gross Scope 1 GHG emissions from stationary combustion 3,363.96 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 2,640.80 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Gross Scope 1 GHG emissions from other sources 127.99 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 198 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from imported electricity 3,837.27 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 3,501.90 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from imported thermal energy 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Total 7,329.22 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 6,340.70 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Figures needed to determine net carbon sinks:
Performance year Baseline year
Third-party verified carbon offsets purchased 17 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Institution-catalyzed carbon offsets generated 328 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Carbon storage from on-site composting 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Carbon storage from non-additional sequestration 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Carbon sold or transferred 328 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Net carbon sinks 17 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

A brief description of the carbon sinks, including vendor, project source, verification program and contract timeframes (as applicable):

REC's are generated by on-site renewables (over 1MW of solar PV) but are not retained by the College due to financial implications. Moving forward the Massachusetts state solar program will remove any possibility of retaining RECs, unless project is paid for outright which is not feasible for an institution of our size. Carbon sinks are also purchased by the campus print office, Fenway Group, to offset emissions from paper printing- these are purchased from Carbonfund.org and follow Climate Action Reserve standards.

Adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net GHG emissions 7,312.22 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 6,340.70 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Start and end dates of the performance year and baseline year (or three-year periods):
Performance year Baseline year
Start date Jan. 1, 2021 July 1, 2008
End date Dec. 31, 2021 June 30, 2009

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:

The baseline utilized is from an outside vendor (SourceOne) greenhouse gas inventory that was completed in July 2010. This was the first and only 3rd party greenhouse gas study conducted for the College. Emissions have been tracked internally moving forward. The campus building footprint has increased significantly from baseline year.

Number of other individuals resident on-site 1 0
Total full-time equivalent student enrollment 4,170 2,827
Full-time equivalent of employees 709 452
Full-time equivalent of students enrolled exclusively in distance education 1,126 0
Weighted Campus Users 3,468 2,879.75

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user 2.11 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 2.20 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Percentage reduction in adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user from baseline:
4.24

Gross floor area of building space, performance year:

Laboratory space 20,000 Square feet
Healthcare space 0 Square feet
Other energy intensive space 0 Square feet

EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
1,459,524 Gross square feet

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per unit of EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
0.01 MtCO2e per square foot

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:

Reducing demand through programming and nighttime setbacks, and increasing energy efficiency in campus buildings through energy conservation measures including HVAC equipment upgrades, LED lighting and control retrofits, variable frequency drives, boiler upgrades, etc. Incorporating green building practices in new construction and commissioning all new buildings. Retro-commissioning existing buildings and rolling out on-going commissioning building analytics to monitor equipment in real-time for fault detection and diagnostics and preventative maintenance. On-site solar generation totaling over 1 MW. Continued program development of occupant engagement campaigns to target behavior change with faculty, students, and staff. Endicott is also conducting an electrification feasibility study for buildings using fossil fuels, as well as a fleet electrification study to reduce mobile emissions.
