Newsletters: NSCC Facilities and Engineering office produces quarterly newsletters. The focus of these newsletters is sustainability updates, such as:
- Green Building Updates
- Building certification updates
- Ongoing building performance (energy, water consumption, waste diversion, etc)
- Sustainability stories and initiatives

Sustainable building features are highlighted throughout all 13 campuses.
For example:
All NSCC campuses have carpool parking signs and spaces and no idling signs.
Our LEED buildings (The Ivany Campus, Marconi Trades building, and the Pictou Trades Building) have signs and interactive design elements with information about energy performance and various sustainable design features such as windmills, geothermal wells and solar panels.
All Campuses also have a sustainability board on campus. These boards are used to post rotating sustainability features that at time includes information about green building features but can also include sustainability education and events.

NSCC provides regular tours of the Centre for the Built Environment at the Ivany Campus (certified LEED Gold). On this tour, sustainable design aspects are reviewed, and guests observe how this building is used as a learning tool to promote sustainability in various academic programs.
At our Pictou Trades Building (Certified LEED Gold), a self-guided tour was developed so that staff, students and the public can organically guide themselves around the building to discover sustainable design elements and interact with live building data such as energy consumption of various systems and the impact of the geothermal system on heating and cooling.
Does the institution produce a guide for green living and/or incorporating sustainability into the residential experience?:

NSCC students in residence receive a "student living guide" that outlines key sustainability practices: proper waste sorting, energy efficiency practices (for the building and within rooms), safety, and security. Units with kitchens are also provided with waste sorting bins and recycling guides.
The Sustainability team also works closely with the campus housing coordinators to integrate sustainability into students' residential experiences. At the beginning of the 2022 year members of the sustainability, team provided training to all student housing assistants as part of their orientation on sustainability and sustainable living. Throughout the year the sustainability team worked with the campus housing coordinators and the student housing assistants to produce sustainability posters and post event information throughout the campus housing buildings. The sustainability team is also working with campus housing coordinators to implement a sustainable move-in/out for the first time this year.

Annual Sustainability Report: Its purpose is to provide timely, accurate information on the overall College-wide sustainability performance, as well as the Campus specific performance, using key sustainability indicators, such as energy, water, CO2 emissions, and waste diversion. The Sustainability Hub: This year the Sustainability team launched the new Sustainability Hub. The Hub is an internal website dedicated to sustainability and the SDG. It is both a place for staff and students to stay up-to-date on sustainability-related events and projects, and also a learning center. https://nscc.sharepoint.com/sites/SDG
SDG Subject Guide: While the Sustainability Hub is an internal resource NSCC's New SDG Subject guide is a publicly available resource to learn more about the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The hub, which was launched in 2022, contains an overview of all the Sustainable Development Goals, recommended resources to learn more and information about how NSCC is delivering on the Goals. https://subjectguides.nscc.ca/sdg
