The Dr. John F. Hamm Trades & Innovation Centre joins NSCC’s ever-growing portfolio of Centre for the Built Environment learning spaces, supporting an innovative, open-concept approach to collaborative learning. Walls that normally separate individual shop spaces do not exist here. High ceilings, flexible shop spaces and mobile equipment have all been designed to create multi-functional spaces that can be adapted and shared to best meet the needs of current and future students of trades and technology. This building has been designed to support a healthy indoor environment and a reduced environmental footprint. The building accommodates Carpentry, Cabinetry, Automotive Service & Repair and Heavy Duty Equipment/ Truck & Transport Repair.

Throughout this building you will discover systems and features designed to reduce energy and water consumption, including a solar wall, geothermal energy, solar panels and low flow fixtures. The use of sustainable and locally sourced building materials is another example of our commitment to making sustainability a priority throughout design and construction.
