As noted in the University Master Plan, ODU's ambition is to "Achieve a 'green' campus through the application of the principles of sustainable development and the creation of an attractive environment in which to study, work, and live". The Commonwealth of Virginia mandates all state construction now be built to LEED Silver standards.
