About the Conference:
The Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit, hosted by Second Nature and the Intentional Endowments Network, is the premier annual gathering of higher education leaders committed to addressing inequality and the climate crisis. The 2022 Summit (April 5-8, 2022) provided the space for courageous conversations, the creation of new partnerships, connecting with peers and cross-sectoral climate champions, all towards the overarching goal of finding solutions to the most consequential climate and justice issues of our time. The 2022 Summit built off of the year-long 2021 Climate Action Pursuit.

About the Presentation:
This 60 minute session will be ted-type quick talks to showcase campus achievements in the past year as a result of the Climate Action Pursuit. Each presenter will share, in 10 minutes, what progress they have made through the Pursuit and how other participants can take action as well. Experts will also share contact information or options to connect after the session, since there will not be an opportunity in this session to take questions or have discussions.
-Topic 1: Mobilizing institutional assets to invest in diversity, equity and inclusion
-Topic 2: Planning to achieve carbon neutrality and integrating the energy transition into the educational experience of the campus
-Topic 3: Committing to net zero portfolios and launching a campus-wide academic curricular program focused on the intersection of climate change and racial justice
-Topic 4: “Inside the Presidential cohort” of the Climate Action Pursuit - perspective from a president

SF State's Sustainability Team participates in a California State University-wide sustainability officers' working group that has a goal of continual knowledge sharing. Officers from the various campuses. The campus also shares knowledge with other campuses in the San Francisco Bay Area including University of San Francisco and University of California, at San Francisco, Santa Clara University, Mills College, Peralta Community College, Canada College, City College of San Francisco, etc.

Caitlin Steele, Director of Sustainability, and William Brogan, Student Assistant to the Office of Sustainability, are participating in a peer review program for AASHE STARS v2.2 with other California State Universities.


A brief description of other inter-campus collaborative efforts around sustainability during the previous year :

SF State is part of a California State University-wide AASHE STARS support group. The members share tactics for completing stars and collaborate on documentation that is common among all campuses.
