A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):

Staff & Faculty: SF State offers an employee help hotline to all faculty and staff. Crisis Intervention/Assessment: In an emergency situation, faculty and/or staff may be seen in person by a clinical counselor. A clinical counselor will complete an assessment of the faculty and/or staff's emergency situation and facilitate an appropriate referral to an on/off campus resource(s) Referrals: Faculty and Staff may call Counseling & Psychological Services to request off-campus mental health resources.

Students: SF State offers counselling to all students. Services include:
-Personal Counseling & Psychotherapy;
-Group Counseling & Psychotherapy Personal development groups which focus on specific problem areas such as shyness, procrastination, assertiveness, and family concerns. Other groups discuss broader life issues such as interpersonal relationships;
-Marital & Couples Counseling;
-Consultation & Outreach Services The Center provides programming on a wide range of mental health issues for the University community. Projects in the past have included workshops on stress, coping with depression and relationships. The Center also offers consultation to individuals and groups. The consultations may relate to concerns about others rather than self.
-Referral Services for Students: The Center provides referral assistance to students who may be in need of mental health services unavailable on campus.
- Counseling Clinic: Graduate Training Clinic: The Peggy H. Smith Counseling Clinic provides individual, couples, and group counseling to San Francisco State registered students and is a sponsored graduate training program of the Counseling & Psychological Services and the Department of Counseling. There are no fees for services.
-Prevention Programs/CEASE: A part of the Center providing substance abuse resources including assessment, referrals and counseling. The CEASE program develops and sponsors on-campus programming.
-The SAFE Place: The SAFE Place at SF State is a resource center for sexual violence prevention and crisis intervention. We serve the campus community in the areas of sexual assault, domestic violence, sexual harassment and stalking.

The Student Affairs & Enrollment Management department has a Health Promotion & Wellness unit that provides health education for the SF State community through campus health initiatives and programming. Focus areas include alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, mental health, nutrition, men's health, sexual health, and sexual violence prevention.
