The Institute for Civic and Community Engagement (ICCE) at San Francisco State University aspires to be a vibrant, collaborative partner in advancing transformative social change in local communities. ICCE enhances the academic mission of the university by supporting teaching and learning that centers civic and community engagement to develop people to become productive, ethical, and active participants in their communities.
The commitment of faculty/staff service is vital for the work of ICCE and the mission of our university to create a more engaged academic institution. ICCE provides a multitude of resources for faculty/staff for teaching service-learning and academic internship courses. Additionally, they provide faculty/staff with ample opportunities for engaged scholarship, community-based research, and funding through fellowship programs. Resources and opportunities provided by ICCE for faculty/staff are meant to aid them in service, community engagement, and teaching.
ICCE organizes 2-3 faculty development workshops per semester to include integrating community service learning into classes, building in innovative reflection components, and community-engaged research and scholarship with multiple benefits including RTP.
