A brief description of the policies and procedures that ensure community stakeholder engagement is applied systematically and regularly across the institution’s activities:
The Town and Gown Advisory Committee was created by Ordinance 5511 on July 3, 2012. This Committee is a forum for collaboration between the City of Fayetteville and the University of Arkansas on mutually relevant issues including, but not limited to, campus expansions, the need for student housing both on and off campus, and parking and noise in the areas adjacent to or nearby the campus.
The Committee is empowered only to advise and make recommendations on a periodic basis to both the City Council and the University of Arkansas on such issues, and to adopt rules for the conduct of its own business.
A brief description of how the institution identifies and engages community stakeholders, including any vulnerable or underrepresented groups:
All meetings are open to the public, and voting members of the committee are appointed by the Mayor, City Council, or U of A Chancellor.

Although all meetings are open to the public, the committee is comprised of twenty-one voting members as follows:
One City Council member appointed by the Mayor
One resident of Ward 1 appointed by the City Council
One resident of Ward 2 appointed by the City Council
One resident of Ward 3 appointed by the City Council
One resident of Ward 4 appointed by the City Council
One member shall be a business owner in the City or a representative of the City development community appointed by the City Council
One member shall be a University of Arkansas student living in the City appointed by the City Council
Seven members shall be City staff appointed by the Mayor
Seven members shall be representatives from the University of Arkansas, to be selected by the Chancellor or the Chancellor's designee
A brief description of successful community stakeholder engagement outcomes from the previous three years:
The U of A and City of Fayetteville have undergone two major collaborative planning processes through co-funded third party consultants in the past three years. The first was a transportation master plan for the University of Arkansas and the second was a recycling and waste diversion master plan for the City of Fayetteville. Both plans required public surveys, public stakeholder engagement meetings, and formal meetings with countless key stakeholders from throughout Northwest Arkansas.
