A brief description of the postconsumer food waste composting program:

The dishroom at Hillcrest Dining Services was remodeled in the summer of 2012. A new food pulper and dish machine were installed. All post-consumer food waste from the dining area is pulped and then transported to the Iowa City Compost Facility, diverting approximately 2,800 pounds of post-consumer food waste each week.
