A brief description of when and why the energy consumption baseline was adopted:

Robina Campus is a newly built campus and became operational in July 2022. As a result, we are currently collecting baseline data for the first year of full operations.

Initially, en environmental consultant specialist was engaged to produce the project-wide environmental sustainability report. A comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions and waste audit and forecast modelling was completed to inform targets to reduce carbon emissions. This audit was completed at the Southport Campus of TAFE Queensland Gold Coast. At the time, the Business, Education, Hospitality, and Language (BEHL) Faculty was operating from the Southport Campus so the audit provided useful information to guide in the planning for the Robina Campus building and future operations.

A brief description of the institution's initiatives to shift individual attitudes and practices in regard to energy efficiency:

A modern sustainable energy management system is now commissioned and incorporated into the build. BMS (Building Management System) – Managing energy consumption - lighting and Air-conditioning usage. The system has significant capabilities. Lighting, general power, and mechanical services are all separately metered via the BMS. The lighting control system is fully automated and requires no further control. The lighting system interfaces with the BMS and the building HVAC is all controlled via the BMS. Reports to capture usage and sustainability metrics can also be generated, as required. Modern and sustainable energy services in infrastructure and technology are implemented through:
* Electricity efficient devices
* Consolidated air conditioning equipment
* High-efficiency equipment and fittings in buildings (including solar and green energy equipment)

In addition to measuring environmental practices, we are also measuring our engagement, both on and off campus. Robina Campus runs a range of initiatives to promote the adoption of energy efficiency practices including a tour of the building for new students and visitors. The tour highlights the building features and the goals of the campus community. Weekly lunchbox workshop sessions are scheduled with partners such as the City of Gold Coast Council, Envirobank, and Behive.

Regular communique, billboards, and TV screens highlight energy consumption and savings. Signage throughout the building refers to the active transport system and the system for recycling. This approach is underpinned by the activities completed in class through the embedded curriculum approach. Ongoing reviews of staff/student engagement with sustainability commitments ensure that the campus is true to its sustainability promise of meeting its goals and targets.


A brief description of energy use standards and controls employed by the institution:

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
All electrical supplies originate from the site's main switchboard located within Basement 1. All equipment can be isolated from this point. Next to every distribution board, there are T-off boxes which can also isolate the Distribution board on that level. The entire Electrical installation has been installed, tested, and commissioned and is ready for use. Detailed legend cards are located within the distribution boards and a copy can be found with the test results. To totally isolate all internal supplies the Main Isolator must be turned to the OFF position. Please Note DO NOT utilise the switch room cupboards as a storage area, clear and unobstructed access MUST be maintained. In the event of an electrical power failure, the building is fitted. with a MonitoredClevertronics HiveEmergency lighting system that will automatically engage in any area where local supply is lost.

DATA & COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS
A MolexFibre and Cat6asystem have been installed within the building. The Fibre originates from the Ground level Communications room and then reticulates to every level’s communications rooms. Any connections need to be negotiated with the Tenancyowners Retail Service Provider. Communications outlets and cat6acable are installed by Elonaratolocations as per asbuilt drawings.

LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM
The ZencontrolLighting Control System consists of Schedules controlling Relay’sand Dali Dimmable Light Fittings. Each DB has a lighting control panel that holds Zencentrolequipment. The Schedules and Switch Controls are documented in Section 7.5.

Robina Campus has a total of 99kW solar panels generating electricity for the building. One impressive sustainability innovation that was achieved included fast-tracking the installation of solar panels on the campus roof and initiating an early connection to the national grid, prior to the fit-out commencing. The solar power system provided the power for all suppliers delivering services as part of the fit-out of the building and enabled the entire fit-out to be completed using solar renewable energy.

Robina Campus is a new build and therefore complies with the latest requirements for the use of energy-efficient appliances, equipment, and systems based on Queensland building regulations. TAFE Queensland, as part of its actions to meet sustainability goals, has implemented a policy that all replacements will be high-efficiency alternatives.


A brief description of Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting and other energy-efficient lighting strategies employed by the institution:

Robina Campus is utilising the Building Management System (BMS) to adjust the mechanical Variable Speed Drive (VSD), isolating mechanical operation by room against usage. Lighting controls through automated ZEN software to reduce lighting levels and usage.

Statistics on usage and monthly tracking of current performance against sustainability targets are being monitored using a Building Management System (BMS) with a comprehensive Bi report tracking progress. The BMS has significant capabilities including separate metering lighting general power and mechanical services. The lighting system interfaces with the BMS and controls the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning). The Bi report produces visuals that can be used to connect to the community using factors such as trees planted.

The solar power system provided the power for all suppliers delivering services as part of the fit-out of the building and enabled the entire fit-out to be completed using solar renewable energy. It is planned to install additional solar panels.
