An inventory of food and beverage purchases that qualify as sustainably/ethically produced:
A brief description of the methodology used to conduct the inventory, including the timeframe and how representative samples accounted for seasonal variation (if applicable):

The methodology used was to download all financial purchases from suppliers for a 12-month period (1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023). Desktop research including reading reviews was completed for each supplier with information about their sustainability practices recorded as per the attached spreadsheet. Food and beverage suppliers were divided into 2 groups. One group was for commercial services (restaurant, cafe, and event centre) while the 2nd group was for suppliers for operational and education services across the campus. A 3rd group was identified as non-food and beverage suppliers.

A survey was sent to all suppliers for the purpose of identifying which suppliers were small, medium enterprises, local, and could provide evidence of sustainable practices across a range of criteria areas such as production, packaging, and transport.

The percentages were calculated by dividing the total amount by the amount of identified items. These were in AUD $.

Products purchased in take-away containers or PET bottles can be tracked through the point of sale. Measures are conducted within waste management through the utilisation of segregated bins - landfill, 10c refundable, compostable organics, and other recycling. The number of consumable items (coffee cups, pet bottles, and take-away containers) are discarded after a single use. A discount is offered for every keep item brought into the Seedpod Café for the product purchased. The discount is attached to a hot beverage, cold beverage, or container for food that has been saved from single use. This information is readily available in reports on a daily/monthly and yearly basis.
