The Recycling Champions program plays an essential roll in helping increasing recycling across campus. These Champions serve as a resource for their peers on which items can and cannot be recycled, promotes the recycling program within their department, and communicates with housekeeping on the recycling program in their area.

Sustainability and Housekeeping departments conduct outreach during sustainability events to encourage those interested in recycling to become a Champion.
A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:
Recycling Champions meet quarterly with Housekeeping, the Sustainability Manager and the Solid Waste and Recycling Resource Manager to receive program updates and collaborate on recycling initiatives.
A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or paid faculty/staff coordination):
The Sustainability Office provides administrative support for the Recycling Champions program.
