Wartburg’s Sustainability Plan was proposed by the Energy and Environmental Sustainability Initiative (EESI), which is made up of faculty, staff, and a representative from the student senate. The committee is made up of 10 individuals.


A brief description of the plan’s measurable goals :

Wartburg’s Sustainability Plan identifies eight areas in which the college seeks to improve its current practices. The eight areas are: Planning and Development, Purchasing, Energy and Climate, Materials and Recycling, Transportation, Water and Landscape, Student Life, and Sustainability in the Curriculum. Each of these eight areas entails a specific vision and goals.


A brief description of how progress in meeting the plan’s goals is measured:

The sustainability staff and committee review the plan annually at least. The sustainability staff actually utilizes the plan regularly to communicate goals and make forward progress.
