Wartburg College’s Diversity Vision Statement
The Wartburg College community is committed to creating and maintaining a mutually respectful environment that recognizes and celebrates diversity among all students, faculty, and staff. Wartburg values human differences as an asset, works to sustain a culture that reflects the interests, contributions, and perspectives of members of diverse groups; and delivers educational programming to meet the needs of diverse audiences. We also seek to instill those values, understandings and skills to encourage leadership and service in a global multicultural society.

A brief description of the diversity office:
The Student Diversity Programs Office develops and promotes multicultural programming and activities to help all students understand and appreciate differences. The director provides advisory support to all American-ethnic students-academically, socially, and personally. The director also serves as an adviser to the Cultural Awareness Organization (CAO), which provides social and educational events in the Mannie Holmes Cultural Diversity Center. The organization increases campus consciousness regarding cultural diversity. The director also advises the Black Student Union and coordinates the annual meetings of the Minority Alumni Advisory Committee (MAAC), whose members provide advice on multicultural strategies and serve as mentors for students.

The Director of the Student Diversity Programs Office supports the offices’ ability to develop and promote multicultural programming and activities to help all students understand and appreciate differences. Special emphasis is placed on promoting student success by sponsoring programs that address the needs of students on a personal, academic, social, career and cultural level. The Student Diversity Programs Office is dedicated to assisting all students in their academic transition to Wartburg College.
The Director also serves as an advisor for the Black Student Union, and the Gospel Choir.
