813,581 MMBtu

Clean and renewable energy from the following sources::
Performance Year
Option 1: Clean and renewable electricity generated on-site during the performance year and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes 538 MMBtu
Option 2: Non-electric renewable energy generated on-site 0 MMBtu
Option 3: Clean and renewable electricity generated by off-site projects that the institution catalyzed and for which the institution retains or has retired the associated environmental attributes 0 MMBtu
Option 4: Purchased third-party certified RECs and similar renewable energy products (including renewable electricity purchased through a certified green power purchasing option) 0 MMBtu

A brief description of on-site renewable electricity generating devices :

The following renewable energy projects have been implemented: solar wall, solar PV/duct system (new, so no data in the calculation) and Solar thermal for pre-heating domestic hot water. Additional solar and other renewable projects are in the planning and implementation stages. The Truro campus uses biomass for district heating.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

Dalhousie has a goal in the University Sustainability Plan to identify and implement renewable energy on campus. Since the passing of the Plan in 2010 the university has undertaken a campus wide-solar study for the Halifax campuses and a Renewable Energy Plan for the Truro campus (new campus from recent merger -2012). This is not calculated in the score because since the merger there has not been enough time passed to have a full baseline and performance year of data.
