The Clean Energy Fund is an ongoing pool of money raised through student fees, to be used for sustainability projects within The Evergreen State College. It is managed by the Clean Energy Committee (CEC), a student panel consisting of a chair and four voting members.
A brief description of the multi-stakeholder decision-making process used to determine which projects receive funding through the sustainability projects fund:
The Clean Energy Committee holds bi-monthly hearings during the main academic year (Fall through Spring), during which applicants for Clean Energy Fund grants may present their proposed projects to the Committee. Applications must include a requested amount of funding from the Clean Energy Fund, in addition to a tentative project timeline and a list of stakeholders that will benefit from the project. After hearing the project proposal, the Clean Energy Committee votes on whether to fund the project. Criteria used by the Clean Energy Committee for a viable project include its long-term effects, its benefits to the College (especially students) and the local community, and its role in advancing sustainability efforts.
