A brief description of the assessment process and the framework, scorecard(s) and/or tool(s) used:

In the fall of 2022, UMass Boston administered the National Assessment of Collegiate Campus Climates (NACCC) to learn about students experiences on campus and identify areas of improvement. The National Assessment of Collegiate Campus Climates (NACCC) is a quantitative survey on campus racial climate. This survey collects data about undergraduate students’ appraisals of institutional commitment to racial equity and diversity, the extent to which they interact meaningfully with diverse others, where and what they learn about race and their feelings of readiness for citizenship in a racially diverse democracy, and other important topics. The survey covers the following areas:
- Appraisals of Institutional Commitment by the administration
- Impact of External Environments
- Racial Learning and Literacy
- Encounters with Racial Stress
- Mattering and Affirmation
- Cross-Racial Engagement

UMass Boston's Office of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Planning (OIRAP) conducts a number of surveys to assess students on their experiences. First-year and senior students participate in a survey about their academic experience which is weighted by gender and race. OIRAP also updates graduation and retention dashboards which measure student success for different demographic groups. The data is available on the University website.
